Of reviews and comments for Pavel Kolesnikov

While reviews don’t always capture each listener’s experience, they can help you prepare for what you’re likely to hear. In the case of Pavel Kolesnikov, it’s likely a connection with the music that the pianist shares with the listener.

 Overall

When it comes to reviews of this remarkable pianist, critics often point to his ability to weave a narrative, which aligns with the imaginative programming he is known for. See some of the snippets that have been written about him:

  • The Arts Desk: Called a Chopin recital an “unpredictable magic” and an “intelligently planned and ineffably well-executed” performance, praising the “imaginative genius for connection” between the pieces.
  • Bachtrack: Described his playing as “bittersweet and intimate,” with “flickering filigree fiorituras of astonishing delicacy” and “elastic tempo rubato.”
  • Gramophone: ‘Very few pianists of Kolesnikov’s generation share his abundance of intelligence, sensitivity, imagination and sheer instrumental mastery’
