Junior Star Submission Guidelines
Eligibility
Applicants can live anywhere in the world. Former first prize winners may not enter the same division again. All other former prize winners may re-enter the competition but may not perform repertoire previously submitted.
How to Apply

These items are required from each applicant:
- The completed application form.
- A non-refundable application fee payable by PAYPAL to juniorstarsofSSBA@gmail.com
- Shining Stars (ages 9 and under) $30
- Rising Stars (ages 10-13): $40
- Shooting Stars (ages 14-18) $50
- Shining Stars (ages 9 and under) $30
- A link to the video of the applicant’s introduction and the unedited 4-5 minute performance of one solo piece relevant to the theme (see “Themes”). The video setup must be fixed in position and show the hands, face, and feet of the performer at all times. Ensure links are functioning and do not require special permission to access. It is the responsibility of the applicant to be sure the link is playable.
The Prizes
In each age bracket there will be a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winner. All winners will be announced on social media and Steinway Society – The Bay Area website, where your recording will be available for public viewing (LINK?).
- Win free streaming tickets or subscriptions to performances by some of the world’s most outstanding classical pianists.
- Tickets are for current season only.
- Win the opportunity to play at a SSBA Family Night concert.
- If you are invited to perform, you are responsible for travel and lodging expenses.If you are unable to perform in person, you may perform via video submission.
- Win a digital certificate of achievement.
- Your recorded performance and presentation will be shared on our YouTube channel.
- Your performance will be recognized on social media.
