About the Artist
Website

*Weber Iago*’s quest for musical expression began at an early age in his native city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil with his focus on piano and organ for which he won many prestigious performance competitions. Becoming a U.S. Citizen in January 2005, Iago is “truly honored to live and work here”.

He is a prolific composer and arranger and a sought-after performer with jazz greats such as Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Dianne Reeves, Terence Blanchard and Keith Underwood. He recently received a standing ovation as a headliner for Carmel California’s radio station KRML’s Blackhawk Live Present’s series, and is a popular regular at the jazz festivals, and at other popular venues around the world.

His exposure to impressionistic music profoundly influenced him and as a result many of Iago’s jazz compositions have a fluid, complex impressionistic flavor. Highly acclaimed recordings include a commissioned work, “Os Filhos do Vento”, or “Children of the Wind”, part of a CD of the same title released by Adventure Music in September, 2004. This prolific talent continues to shine through Iago’s recent locally produced release of “Each Day’s Universe”, featuring Iago doing solo and trio work recorded at Open Path Studios in San José. Iago continues to expand his compositional work by preparing to enter the world of film scoring, as well as continuing to share his love of humanity through his wonderful musical language.
