About the Artist
Website

The *Lee Trio*’s “gripping immediacy and freshness” and “rich palette of tone colours” [The STRAD] continues to inspire and move audiences and critics around the world, establishing the dynamic ensemble made of up of sisters and native San Franciscans- Angela, cello; Lisa, violin; and Melinda, piano- as one of the premier chamber ensembles on the international stage.

Winners of numerous competitions and graduates from such prestigious institutions as Juilliard, Yale, Curtis and Harvard, each member of the Trio is a brilliant soloist in her own right. Having played together since their childhood, The Lee Trio made its professional debut at Wigmore Hall in 2002. The ensemble, which won top awards in 2004 at the Gaetano Zinetti and Kuhmo International Chamber Music Competitions in Italy and Finland, has regularly performed on both sides of the Atlantic, including London’s Purcell Room, Bern, Hannover, Detmold, Berlin, New York, Las Vegas and San Francisco.

During 2005-2006, The Lee Trio performed in Italy under the auspices of Luoghi Di Confine, gave debut recitals at the Mendelssohn Festival and Bachfest in Leipzig, Germany and at Herbst Theatre in San Francisco, and completed its first China tour, giving recitals and master classes in Hong Kong, Macao, Shenzhen, Hangzhou and Shanghai and performing the Beethoven Triple Concerto with the Macao Youth Symphony, Shenzhen Symphony and the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestras.

This season’s highlights include recitals at The Scandinavia House in New York City, Gorham’s Bluff Institute in Alabama, the Philharmonie in Berlin and the Franckeschen Stiftungen Konzertsaal in Halle, Germany, a recording for the Finnish Broadcasting Company, residency as Associate Chamber Music Faculty at the Zephyr International Chamber Music Festival in Italy. The Lee Trio is passionately dedicated to performing the works of contemporary and living composers and plans to give the world premiere of a multi-movement work written for them by American composer Nathaniel Stookey during 2007-2008.
