Overall
When it comes to reviews of this remarkable pianist, critics often point to his ability to weave a narrative, which aligns with the imaginative programming he is known for. See some of the snippets that have been written about him:
- The Arts Desk: Called a Chopin recital an “unpredictable magic” and an “intelligently planned and ineffably well-executed” performance, praising the “imaginative genius for connection” between the pieces.
- Bachtrack: Described his playing as “bittersweet and intimate,” with “flickering filigree fiorituras of astonishing delicacy” and “elastic tempo rubato.”
- Gramophone: ‘Very few pianists of Kolesnikov’s generation share his abundance of intelligence, sensitivity, imagination and sheer instrumental mastery’
